Held this year on Saturday, December 2 at 9am at First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, the 16th annual JBRR 5k/10k/Fun Run is one of the biggest and best races in the area. As the race approaches, you will be able to register ONLINE or at any Cleveland County Family YMCA. 

When: Saturday, December 2nd at 9:00 am.

Where: First Baptist Church, 605 W. Kings Street, Kings Mountain, NC
Why: Proceeds benefit the "We Build People" scholarship fund.
Events: 5k @ $25, 10k @ $30, Kids Fun Run @ $10 and Phantom Dasher @ $25. Prices will increase after November 21st so register early. (Non-YMCA members pay $5 more for the 5k & 10k)
NOTE: The Phantom Dasher donates to the cause and receives a T-Shirt, but doesn't run.

**"Dasher” the rockin’ reindeer will appear to have some fun and photos with the crowd!

**All race participants under age 10 will receive a free inflatable guitar so they can really rock this years race!  They will also be available for "big kids" to purchase for $1 so everyone can get in on the fun!

**To make this a truly "Rockin Run" we're looking for musicians who would like to motivate runners and show off their talents by performing energetic music at designated places on the race course. Contact Daron Dwyer for details at 

**Daisy Yoga will be doing FREE, pre-race, warmup yoga beginning at 8 AM.

In addition to supporting the wellness of our community, the race benefits the "We Build People" scholarship fund. This makes YMCA programs and services available to those who may need various levels of financial assistance.  Whether its single moms, kids needing after school, summer camp, sports programs or seniors needing a place to remain active. This fund helps ensure the Y is accessible to EVERYONE.

Want extra motivation and coaching to run your best 5k? Register for our fun “Couch to 5k” program! We will provide you with an easy to follow program to boost your performance, and you can meet once a week with one of our running trainers and the couch to 5k running group for that extra encouragement and insight to help you be your best on race day! The program runs 8 weeks during Oct. & Nov leading up to the race, and it’s only $10 to participate. 

Great awards for Top 3 Overall Winners and the following Age Groups of the 5k and 10k: 9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 +.

Early Packet Pickup will be at First Baptist on Friday, December 2nd from 3-7:30 pm.

Race Day Pickup/Registration will OPEN at 7 am and close promptly at 8:30 am.

Diabetes Prevention Program - These great classes are offered at all our branches and off-site locations to meet the needs of communities and corporate partners.


Livestrong at the YMCA for Cancer Survivors


Free Fitness Orientation - We believe that the more you know about our fitness center, the more likely you are to enjoy your exercise experience. In a fitness appointment, knowledgeable staff will teach you how to use equipment correctly and safely. We'll help you put your goals in motion with a personalized fitness plan you will want to keep doing using our FITLINXX tracking system. Personal Training - Achieve your goals through the knowledge, experience, motivation, and accountability that a personal trainer can provide. Whether you purchase a single session, or an multi-session package, you will see the benefit of having the assistance of a professional. See our front desk for the brochure that will include any personal training specials currently being offered.


Fitness Challenge - We have fitness challenges throughout the year to help you reach your wellness and fitness goals. In addition to the gratification of "mission accomplished," those completing the challenges usually also qualify for rewards from the Y, such as T-shirts or other prizes.


Aquatics Schedule - The KM YMCA outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Please check back for the schedule as the season arrives. Click HERE to go to our aquatics page.


Water Fitness Classes - We meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am at the KM High School Pool for a great Water Fitness class led by Cynthia Hollifield.
